Designed for use in pipelines and nonstandart equipment they make installation easier and cheaper. Gaskets larger than DN 2000 in diameter are complicated to produce and generate high packing and transportation costs, which could be much higher than the cost of the gasket istself. Also the handling of gaskets in these sizes, e.g. DN 4000, is difficult.
